You’ve Done the Work. So Why Do You Still Feel Stuck?
If you’re here, you’ve likely done a lot of work already.
You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, collected every skill your past therapists recommended, and can map out your patterns with color-coded arrows if asked.
And yet, you still find yourself overwhelmed, shutting down, spiraling into shame, replaying conversations, bracing for rejection, or contorting yourself to avoid disappointing anyone.
For most people seeking ADHD therapy for adults, these aren’t separate, unrelated issues. They are how a highly sensitive nervous system adapts to years of invalidation, misunderstanding, criticism, and pressure to “do better.”
Knowing why you feel this way hasn’t translated into feeling or acting any differently.
You’re not stuck because you’re doing it wrong. You’re stuck because the patterns you are trying to change were learned below the level of logic.
This is where rejection sensitive dysphoria therapy comes in.
Understanding the Anxiety—Rejection Sensitivity—Shame Loop
Managing yourself until you can’t, then crashing into self-criticism.
This is where traditional behavioral therapy for adults with ADHD stalls—it asks people who already over-manage themselves to do even more of it. More than strategies, you need the patterns underneath to shift.
The Adult ADHD Trifecta
When your brain works differently in a world that doesn’t understand it, your nervous system adapts.
It learns three jobs: anticipate, protect, punish.
High-Functioning Anxiety
Trying to prevent anything from going wrong.
Overthinking & Perfectionism: Analyzing every outcome to avoid mistakes.
People-Pleasing & Over-Functioning: Taking on extra burdens to ensure others stay happy.
Masking & Rehearsing: Constantly monitoring your behavior and practicing conversations beforehand.
Decision Paralysis: Struggling with risk and overanalyzing choices until you're too exhausted to act.
Rejection Sensitivity
Your system reacts fast and hard to perceived disapproval.
Replaying interactions on a loop, searching for where you went wrong.
Instantly assuming you messed up when a text, tone, or look shifts.
An urgent, agonizing need to "fix" or apologize right now.
Swinging between intense self-defense or completely collapsing into shutdown.
Days of deep, physical shame originating from a single, minor interaction.
Relational Trauma
Earlier experiences that taught your body how fast belonging can disappear.
being bullied or left out
being chronically misunderstood
being criticized or compared
feeling unseen
betrayal
being labeled “too much” or “not enough”
A Bottom-Up Neuroscience Approach to Lasting Change
I work at the level where anxiety, shame, and rejection sensitivity actually live: your nervous system and emotional memory.
When the underlying patterns shift, the coping skills you already know finally click into place. This is what allows my approach to ADHD therapy for adults to create lasting change—without requiring more self-monitoring or emotional control.
This approach may be right for you if:
You want therapy that shifts patterns, not just creates insight
You’re done talking in circles, recapping your week, or leaving sessions unsure if anything shifted. You want depth, direction, and integration rather than endless, exhausting analysis.
You want work that goes beyond reframing thoughts
You’re exhausted with policing your own thoughts. You want therapeutic approaches that make it feel easier and more natural to show up as your authentic self.
You want to stop reacting to the past as if it’s still happening
You recognize that your emotional reactions match something older, not your current reality. You want therapeutic modalities that help your body update, not just give you more manual strategies to manage old pain.
You want therapy that is focused, intentional, and efficient
You want to find and address the root of your issues, experience deep relief, and get back to actively creating a fulfilling life.
Therapeutic Approaches I Use
-
A short-term, evidence-based approach using structured eye movements and mental imagery to update distressing memories quickly and gently. A strong fit for people who want their physical reactions to finally match what they know is true, instead of getting pulled into old emotional patterns.
-
A compassionate, parts-work approach that helps you identify and unburden the different "parts" of your system—like your relentless inner critic, the people-pleaser, or the anxious contingency planner—so you can lead your life with more Self-energy, clarity, and confidence.
-
Body-based approaches designed to help you work directly with your nervous system, shift out of chronic survival states (like fight, flight, or freeze), and return to a natural baseline of safety.
-
Practical, highly flexible, and neurodivergent-affirming coping tools tailored to your unique executive functioning style. We focus on emotional regulation, boundaries, building distress tolerance, and living in alignment with your personal values.
What therapy with Becca is like
Sessions are active, focused, and collaborative.
We don’t just recap your week. We use what is happening in your daily life to identify and shift the deeper, subconscious patterns underneath your reactions.
I track themes and protective patterns in real time so that you do not have to steer the work alone.
We move dynamically between:
Understanding what’s happening in your system.
Building safety and capacity.
Working directly with the emotional and physical experiences driving it.
The pace is steady and intentional. It is deep enough to create genuine, lasting change without overwhelming your sensitive nervous system.

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) is an intense, overwhelming emotional vulnerability to perceived or actual criticism, disapproval, or exclusion. For neurodivergent individuals, RSD acts like an immediate, physical pain response in the nervous system rather than a standard cognitive worry.
If you’d like a deeper breakdown of how rejection sensitivity develops and how rejection sensitive dysphoria therapy helps, you can read more here.

No. You do not need a formal ADHD, autism, or any diagnosis to work with me. Many of my clients are self-identified, questioning, or simply possess a highly sensitive nervous system that deeply benefits from neurodivergent-affirming therapy.
-
You are absolutely welcome here. The protective cycle of overthinking, rejection sensitivity, and deep shame can develop from many life experiences, including relational trauma, childhood emotional neglect, giftedness, or being a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) in a loud, demanding world.
